Note: this article describes a technical scenario, representative of the type of project that AVPRO and its integration partners deliver for sports venues - it does not identify a specific client.
Football stadiums have video surveillance requirements that go well beyond conventional CCTV. Competitions governed by FIFA and FPF regulations require, amongst other things, redundant video coverage of the playing areas and access points, with dual recording of video and audio, to ensure that the loss of a storage system never compromises the availability of footage for review.
The integration challenge
In a stadium, video surveillance operates alongside access control for thousands of spectators at once, intrusion detection outside match days and, frequently, licence plate recognition in the car parks. Managing these systems in isolation multiplies the number of operator workstations and slows down incident response.
Why unification makes a difference here
Genetec Security Center allows a single platform to correlate an access control event at an entrance with the cameras covering that area, and enables the redundant recording architecture to be configured at system level rather than managed manually by each operator. On match day, this means a control room with a unified view of the entire venue, instead of multiple screens from systems that do not communicate with one another.
